Well, I'm going to be honest here. I didn't do very well eating wise. I knew that these 2 days were going to be tough. I'm not going to sweat it though.

A few years back my mom had made her famous popcorn balls for Halloween. I did not eat a one of them because I was Low Carbing. If I had of known then it would be her last time making them for me, I would have. I decided right then and there that I WILL NOT stop myself from enjoying the holidays just because of my special diet. Yes, I know I have to get over the addiction. But, whether I like it or not memories in my family are tied to food. Food will always be important to me. I will not let it ruin my holidays. I will be back to LCing Saturday morning and I will go on from there.
Got to see most of my family today and will see the rest tomorrow. I'm blessed with people I love and who love me. Hope everyone had a great holiday.

edit to add: Friends stopped by late with a couple of pizzas. We played cards and ate pizza.

:)

Hey, you are honest and remember it is not one or two meals that do us in, it is consitent bad behavior that does. If you decided to temporary sway off and enjoy your family eating, that is fine. Noone will judge you here. We will if you start doing it often. So enjoy the Holidays and get back on track right after!

Howdy, NewVision.

You've got a plan. One that makes sense to you. And, to my mind, it's all about what works for you.

If you can get back on track, on Saturday, and still have enjoyed some family favorites ... great! That's the best of both worlds!

In any event, it'll be a learning experience.

I took a different approach this year and I think it worked out well for me. But again, I did what I felt I needed to do.

One example of this: Most years, I'll just get a bouquet of flowers for my mom - who generally hosts our Thanksgiving get-togethers.

But, this year, I bought flower bouquets for all the ladies of our family - or rather, for all the households in our family.

I did this to further emphasize that I love them ... even though I wouldn't eat the treats they made.

I also brought along a few dishes that I made personally. I brought enough for myself and for those that wanted to sample my special dishes.

Based on their reaction, it seems as though they respected my decision without feeling weird about it or feeling loved any less.

That was my plan and how it turned out. I'll look forward to hearing more about how your plan works out. I really hope it turns out well for you too!

Glad you're enjoying the holidays, and if that plan works for you that's great. I think it's just nice to be able to tell fellow low carb travelers different things we try and if they did or didn't work for us. Just stick to your entire plan!
